ABOUT RYAN BUELL
Buell, who grew up in Sumter, SC, became fascinated with the paranormal at an early age. As editor of his high school paper, Buell regularly reported on supernatural activity within the area, investigating old churches, cemeteries and plantations during the weekends.
In 2001, Buell founded the Penn State Paranormal Research Society, a student-based club dedicated to exploring the paranormal. In December 2007, Buell and PRS entered the national spotlight with the debut of "Paranormal State," a docu-drama series chronicling their extraordinary cases. With over 2 million viewers, "State" became an instant hit. "Paranormal State" is currently in its second season, airing Mondays at 10pm EST on A&E.
Buell received his first Bachelor's degree in 2006 at Penn State. He is currently finishing a second degree. Recently, Buell received his first book offer, with plans for a 2009 release.
When Buell isn't investigating the unexplained, he enjoys hiking with his puppy, Xander (named after a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" character," eating lemonheads and getting in to trouble with his best bud, Sergey (a former Soviet infant spy, codename 'KGB'). Buell travels frequently around the world and is an avid movie junkie.

QUICK INTERVIEW WITH RYAN
Favorite movies? "The Exorcist," "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington," "North by Northwest," "Return of the King" and "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie." All great classics.
Movies you don't understand why people like? Kevin Smith movies. Without a doubt, "Clerks 2." A guy having sex with a donkey... how is that funny? I did like "Chasing Amy," though.
Favorite TV shows? Currently, "LOST" and "South Park." I also love "Real Time with Bill Maher," although he's anally against religion. "LOST" is amazing. It's emotional, scary, dramatic and intelligent. JJ Abrams is a genius. I'm also a big fan of "The X-Files" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." If you haven't watched "Buffy," then you haven't experienced true happiness.
Favorite past-time? Making fun of Paris Hilton.
Favorite Football team? Uh, Nittany Lions, of course.
Favorite pro football team? Don't watch it.
Paranormal investigators you admire? I heavily respect Ed and Lorraine Warren's work. Ed was a very intelligent man. Even though he was in to religious demonology, he consulted with parapsychologists, universities and various religions on all kinds of subjects. The man knew about everything. He disciplined himself to education in the chaotic world of the paranormal. I'm also a big fan of JB Rhine, although he did take some of the fun out of paranormal studies with his strict lab-research. Nevertheless, he opened up a new doorway for parapsychology. I also heavily admire the efforts of the SPR (Society for Psychical Research).
Advice for aspiring paranormal investigators? Please do not stop educating yourself. There are a lot of good books out there by reputable people who have great information for you to consider. A lot of people want to start investigating right away, but it's so much more rewarding to take the time to research. Also, go to conferences and find some great websites to subscribe to.
